We hosted our fourth distribution on Thursday, October 29th focused on getting refugee and immigrant families prepared for winter with diapers, wipes, personal care products, feminine care, food boxes, and a third round of direct cash assistance from the Refugee Assistance Fund.

Together, we distributed essential items and cash assistance checks to over 125 refugee and immigrant families in Allegheny County!

In the past, our events have only been open to families enrolled in Hello Neighbor programs, however, for this distribution we were excited to open the event up for all refugees and immigrants in Allegheny County!

Overall, we had 45 non-Hello Neighbor families register and attend the event.

The event featured essential items donated by Global Links, Dr. Bronner’s, NuGo, Sisterfriend, and 412 Food Rescue.

In addition to collecting items and receiving cash assistance, families were able to sit down with Hello Neighbor staff and interpreters to talk about their support system in Pittsburgh, and ways we can best support them in this critical time.

A big thanks to our friends at Casa San Jose, JFCS (Jewish Family and Community Services), and United Somali Bantu Association of Greater Pittsburgh for referring their clients to help us open this event up to more refugees and immigrants in Pittsburgh! An additional thanks to our incredible supporters who donated items, funds, and hosted drives, as well as the many volunteers who came out to make this day a success!
