Direct Services Coordinator

Hello Neighbor is currently hiring a full-time Direct Services Coordinator. The Direct Services Coordinator role is a unique blend of overseeing direct service opportunities that stem from Hello Neighbor’s COVID-19 response as well as the development of our newest program, Smart Start for Refugee Mothers and Children. This role is a hands-on and high attention to detail opportunity to help recently resettled refugee families navigate Pittsburgh and enroll in critical services that help them move from survive to thrive. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our mission while learning what it takes to build a nonprofit.


  • Oversee distributions in the community that could include, but are not limited to, food, access to educational materials, new mom and baby essentials, books, crafts and more.
  • Lead the community partner relationships. This includes maintaining a detailed workflow of those relationships, tracking contact information, and representing Hello Neighbor to new and existing partners.
  • Lead volunteer coordination for the distributions including communications to mentors and volunteers plus the mentee families who will be receiving the deliveries
  • Tracking partner relationships and volunteers (plus hours) in an organized and detailed way for relationship building, stewardship and acknowledgement purposes
  • Create benchmarks, logic models, outcomes and outputs for the program - this helps with efficacy and makes sure we’re listening to the needs of the community.
  • Organize and facilitate the distribution of in-kind donations
  • Create a broader definition for Smart Start. This could include: Who enrolls and what is that process. Define Smart Start as it applies to creating marketing or collateral material. Create program evaluation.
  • Create enrollment opportunities for new moms to join. Could be pregnant moms or moms in the program, defining those opportunities.
  • Note: This role is not as much about “direct case management” - for those elements you would coordinate with our Program Manager for Mentorship to best navigate situations

About You:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in Government, NGO or the private sector
  • Previous experience working with immigrant or low-income communities
  • Experience building partnerships
  • Good report writing skills with good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be highly computer literate
  • Is an enthusiastic professional, who is comfortable speaking in public and is able to build relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Experience in healthcare related to women’s outcomes and/or social work a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters Degree optional.
  • You will be required to submit ACT 33/34 clearances (criminal and child abuse).

Position Details:

  • Full-time salaried. Range is $38,000-42,000 based on experience

Social Media Community Manager

Hello Neighbor is currently hiring a part-time Social Media Community Manager. As Hello Neighbor grows, we want to make sure we are engaging as much with our online audiences as possible. Dignified Storytelling is one of our core values and we do this through our social media channels, blog, newsletter and through other forms of media.

This role will include creating a growth strategy, content and posting responsibilities for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter, and engaging our followers on each channel.

This is a part-time role. You must have day-time and weekend availability as well as experience working on social media accounts, either as part of a college club or in a role at another organization, nonprofit or business. You will report directly to the Development and Marketing Manager and must be located in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.

You must be 21 years of age or older and will be required to submit ACT 33/34 clearances (criminal and child abuse).

Note: We are also open to a junior account executive at a PR/marketing/advertising agency working with us for a set period of time as a pro-bono project within their agency.


  • Help develop an individual and unique brand voice for our various social media channels with a focus on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Develop a growth strategy for those social media channels
  • Write compelling copy for social media posts that are true to the Hello Neighbor brand and tone of voice and that focus on dignified storytelling
  • Lead organization of creating and scheduling our content calendar
  • Lead engagement including: like, follow, and commenting across channels
  • Lead creation and funnel for paid ads on applicable platforms
  • Be our ears on trend spotting and forecasting in social media
  • Create a monthly social media report analyzing our growth and identifying opportunities for growth and engagement
  • Create event pages on social platforms and promote events on all social channels
  • Be on-site for events to capture content

About You:

  • 1-3 years of experience, preferably in an agency
  • Experience in community management
  • Experience with social media management systems, analytics and social listening tools
  • Creative and unique perspective on community management
  • Team player attitude, and willingness to pitch in with other areas of social when needed
  • An outgoing, creative thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Immersed in social media
  • Genuine in your desire to help make the world a better place, especially in supporting our refugee and immigrant communities
  • Excellent writing skills
  • An ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Graphic design, photography and video editing skills are a plus, but not essential

  • Compensation: $18/hr depending on experience
  • Time: Approximately 10-20 hours a week

Administrative Assistant

Hello Neighbor is currently hiring a part-time Administrative Assistant. The Administrative Assistant will support Hello Neighbor’s growing organization through detail-oriented tasks, operations support in the capacity of both in-office and remote work. Working at Hello Neighbor is an opportunity to be on the ground floor of a fast-paced startup nonprofit. This is a unique chance to work for and learn from a local organization that is gaining national attention.   • The Administrative Assistant provides data entry and clerical support to the organization. This position requires strong communication, organizational and writing skills as well as the critical thinking ability to solve problems effectively.

About You

  • Minimum requirement: High School Diploma (or GED)
  • Motivated team player
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Technology skills are required as we use a variety of tools daily including: Microsoft Office, Slack, Notion, Little Green Light and Google Labs. You don’t have to know how to use all those tools, but you should be comfortable learning them quickly.
  • You must be 21 years of age or older and will be required to submit ACT 33/34 clearances (criminal and child abuse).

Position Details:

  • Compensation: $14/hr depending on experience
  • Commitment: September-May (at a minimum)
  • Time: Approximately 10-20 hours a week
  • Location: Pittsburgh, PA
