Osorno, Education Manager</p> <p>Hello Neighbor hosted the Study Buddy Family/Student Orientation on September 14, 2022 at our beautiful office. The Orientation provided all information about the Study Buddy program to our enrolled families. We talked about student commitments and expectations, their relationships with tutors and counselors, the Chromebook loan program and we reviewed the semesters’ calendar. Also, we talked to parents about our efforts to improve communication between our registered families with their schools/school districts (we provided them with a printed Study Buddy/School District calendar).</p> <p>Study Buddy supports refugee and immigrant students navigate online and/or in-person learning. The goals of the program is to help students stay motivated to attend class, engaged with schoolwork; to empower students to build relationships with school staff and know how to ask for help. Our tutors help students set up goals for the semester and be accountable for their progress, they work on homework, understanding assignments and grading systems, and confidence building.</p> <p>The Study Buddy program is set to start on the 20th of September. However we have ongoing enrolling lists for students and tutors. If you apply we will be in touch for the next semester. This Fall the program (and beyond) will host guest speakers from different fields who are willing to share their professional experience, day-to-day duties, and general advice to our young scholars.
